- National Workshop
RWEDP Report No.55, 2001
Traditionally, trees have been an integral part of the land management system in Pakistan and these trees, which may be owned and/or managed on a private, collective or public basis, constitute the main non-forest based woodfuel production source. Thanks to the national Social Forestry Programme, the integration of fast-growing multipurpose trees into farming systems, even irrigated farming systems, has become very popular all over NWFP, Punjab and Sindh Provinces...
The present publication on Woodfuel Production and Marketing in Pakistan describes the results of the national workshop held in Hyderabad, Sindh Province in October 1998. This was the second workshop in Pakistan on the same subject with the first workshop being organized in Punjab about a year earlier. The second workshop was organized in response to the specific request of the Secretary, Forest & Wildlife Department, Government of Sindh, Pakistan as the situation in Sindh is considered different from that of Pakistan in general. Therefore, in addition to the general issues of wood fuel production and marketing, the workshop addressed issues which specifically concern Sindh Province.
